Manejo del taponamiento pericárdico. Diagnóstico clínico y ecocardiográfico y tratamiento.

Hace solo unos días subimos al blog un artículo que revisaba el manejo del derrame pericárdico a la luz de la evidencia más reciente. Casualidades de la vida, acaba de publicarse otro, en el American Journal of Emergency Medicine, que revisa el manejo, clínico y ecocardiográfico, de la manifestación más extrema, y potencialmente mortal, del derrame: el taponamiento pericárdico. Está elaborado por un grupo de médicos de urgencias estadounidenses y repasa tanto la evaluación inicial del paciente como todos los posibles hallazgos ecocardiográficos. Dedica, por último, un extenso apartado a la pericardiocentesis: a quién hacérsela, qué contraindicaciones tiene y cómo realizarla, que debería ser, siempre que sea posible, de forma ecoguiada. We published here, a few days ago, a review article on the new approaches to management of pericardial effusion. By a quirk of fate, it has been recently published, on the American Journal of Emergency Medicine, a complete review, clinical and echocardiographic, on the most life-threatening consequence of the pericardial effusion: the cardiac tamponade. Its authors are a group of American emergency doctors, and reviews the emergency department presentation and evaluation and also the posible echocardiographical findings. Finally, it approaches the ED management, that includes the drainage through pericardiocentesis. Emergent or urgent? Are there any contraindications?
